“I read two achingly beautiful novels last year, whose characters and stories have stuck with me.

The Song of Achilles is a retelling of the Greek story of Achilles and The Illiad. But don't let that dissuade you from reading! It's a coming-of-age story for Achilles' best friend, Patroclus, whose love burns bright through the pages of this book. The writing is lyrical and beautiful and will leave you reading late into the night to find out how the story of these two lovers ends. (Spoiler, but not if you remember High School classics: get the tissues ready!)

This is How You Lose the Time War” is about two time-traveling female assassins. Their story is told entirely through the letters they leave behind for each other to find. They start with taunts as to who is the better agent, and then grow warmer, and eventually into love and longing. The writing is so beautiful and the characters' feelings so relatable, even in a setting that's completely different than our own. You'll find yourself totally engulfed in these letters and the fire between these two incendiary women.”

“I am a fiction girly, although the title caught my eye and I am glad it did. “On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous” written by Ocean Vuong is an absolutely beautiful novel.

There is so much depth while being honest about race, class, and sexuality. The novel is the author writing a letter to his mother who cannot read and saying all the things he wished he could. “

"The Guncle" by Steven Rowley is the perfect 'all the feels' fiction summer read! Heartwarming and lightly emotional, you'll picture the story as a movie and want to make your next purchase a kaftan.

For non-fiction fans, Central Florida author Jillian Abby shares her story in newly published "Perfectly Queer" Inspiring to readers of any sexual orientation, you'll enjoy the humor and appreciate Jillian's candor about her coming out journey. Bonus is that she also co-hosts the podcast "Life and Love in the Q" - the perfect binge-listen for your summer road trip!

I recently read Jodi Picoult & Jennifer Finney Boylan's "Mad Honey" and I am calling it now: best book I will read in 2023! Get a copy!!

I enjoy sharing a good book I just read or putting it in my free little library in my front yard. However, there are some books that I must keep for my personal library and Emma Straub's "All Adults Here," Kacen Callender's "Felix Ever After" and Laurie Frankel's "This is How It Always Is" remains in my home. They are treasures!!
