4 Ways To Move Your Biz Forward During COVID

Hey, babe! How are you feeling these days? Your feelings are 100% valid, so if your answer is ‘good, could be better’ or ‘ahhhhhhh!’ I hear you. I know a big question coming from entrepreneurs right now is ‘how do I promote my business during COVID?”

Here’s a Facebook Live I co-hosted with Melissa Meredith of Content Create with tips on how to communicate & sell on behalf of your business without coming off as insensitive.

Also, I want you to know that it’s okay if you’re not in a heavy selling mode right now. Here are some ways you can ask for help and move your business forward that are not sales-centric.

Pop into the comments to let me know what questions you have and also which one of these tips you plan to go after first! Wishing you all the best. Stay safe & remember that you got this. xx -Gina

1 // Sign up for Help A Reporter Out

Help A Reporter Out, aka HARO is a great tool for landing press. Signing up is free and you’ll receive 3 emails a day with new queries, or topics from reporters looking to feature experts in articles and blogs. I like love it if you were included, too.

Pro Tip: Don’t feel pressured into submitting to every email. Heck, don’t feel pressured to even read every single email. I make it a goal to submit 1 to 3 a week. You do what works for you, boo! Just aim for consistency.

Lisa Gilmore of Lisa Gilmore Design says she’s been consistently submitting for years and has been featured many times by Forbes, for example (woot!).

2 // Testimonials

When was the last time you asked a client for a testimonial, babe? Make it a habit to ask via email every time you wrap a successful project.

Copywriter & Content Strategist, Erika Holmes says she has a questionnaire she sends clients that includes specific q’s to help get the best anecdotes for her testimonials.

Pro Tip: Ask for a video testimonial! A video of your client sharing how amazing her experience is will connect with your next client way more than just text. You’d be surprised how many ladies don’t mind creating a 1 minute video to send. Be sure to thank her for her time by sending her a Starbucks gift card for her next Latte.

Keep in mind these testimonials will be great for your website, to be featured in your IG feed, and more. They are evergreen!

3 // Google Reviews

Reviews are a big deal for all small businesses, but especially for product-based businesses and brick & mortar businesses. Take is from Tara Allison of Sweets Bakehouse when she says her 54 Google Reviews not only help her generate leads, but also book cakes for weddings & special events.

Pro Tip: Ask a client to do you a solid by posting a Google Review of their experience. Invite them to leave a review & even add a photo. As a thank you, send them a little perk for their next purchase with you.

4 // Audit Your Brand

Can you confirm that all the social links and contact links on your website work? Is your Instagram bio up to date? Let’s make sure!

Take 40 minutes to comb through your website, Instagram, Facebook, etc. and make sure links are up to date. Sometimes when we make updates to one platform, we forget about the others. Let’s make sure all those T’s are crossed so that the next time your Ideal Client visits your website, it’s a smooth experience, babe!

Pro Tip: Add this to-do to your calendar for this time next year. ;)
