Meet Rana Tierney of Roohi Photography
Welcome back to the BC blog! I’m over the moon to introduce you to a fabulous business owner I know you’ll love— Rana Tierney of Roohi Photography and Tierney Lane. Rana and her family are an incredible testament to the American Dream. Rana’s mother and father immigrated to the United States from Iran to build a better life for their family. Today, both of their daughters are successful entrepreneurs with a passion for family.
Rana is a mom to two young boys, a wife, and the Owner of two incredible businesses. After beautifully capturing hundreds of weddings, Rana decided in 2018 to pivot and photograph high school seniors as they say goodbye to one chapter and hello to their college career or path of their choosing. She launched her second business in early 2023 and is so excited to help guests celebrate special moments like baby showers, engagement parties, and more at Tierney lane, a venue and event space that has the perfect balance of modern boho and historic character.
Enjoying diving into Rana’s story and let us know in the comments what inspired you the most. xo -Gina
How would you describe the last 5 years as a business owner?
The last 5 years have been a whirlwind for Roohi Photography. 2018 was the first year I stopped shooting weddings and pivoted solely to portraits. It was the best decision I made for me, my family and the business. Since then, Roohi Photography has grown to become the one stop destination for high school senior portraits and branding shoots. 2020 was challenging for everyone - but it turned out to be one of my busiest years in business.
In 2022, I purchased a building and started a 2nd business, Tierney Lane. The spirit of celebration and creativity that radiates through every historic inch of Tierney Lane. Tucked away, yet centrally located in the heart of downtown Bradenton, Tierney Lane is an enchanting 1924 bungalow that’s been lovingly restored and modernized to serve as both an events venue and a creative studio.
What’s your proudest accomplishment (so far!)?
Taking on a whole other business. I learned that I can't stay stagnant. I must continue to grow and learn and keep pushing the boundaries.
Before starting Tierney Lane, I always knew the building as the "white house." It was perfectly situated behind my old photography studio and I would use it as a backdrop. I remember thinking "Wow, I want to own that building." I loved everything about it and knew I could make it something great. I believe in manifesting the things you want... and that's what I did. Next thing you know, the universe listened and we purchased the "white house" in August of 2022. I knew it would be my studio, but wanted it to be so much more. I thought what a wonderful place to rent out to other photographers, host women-focused events and meetings and offer as a venue! It has been AMAZING thus far. We've hosted photographers, baby and bridal showers, workshops and so much more. It hasn't even been a year and yet I feel like I've owned this building forever.
What are you excited to accomplish in the next 5 years?
The world is truly my oyster. Yes! It’s cheesy, I know, but it's true. I honestly have no idea what's in store.
I know I want to continue to nurture this new business that is meant to help others create, celebrate and cultivate. I want Roohi Photography to continue to grow, and I personally want to continue to make women feel incredible about themselves through portraits.
How has being a part of Babe Crafted impacted you?
Gina and Babe Crafted have been like a foundation.
The women I've met, the relationships I've made... none of that would have happened without Babe Crafted.
