Tell us about yourself and what you do!
I help parents of children ages 3-10 with Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, ADHD, or other sensory processing challenges to go from feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and fearful of the future, to feeling empowered and equipped to navigate the new normal, so that they can embrace life as a family in a way that honors the needs of each individual within.
How did your business begin?
Motherhood and helping children and families are my passion. I spent nearly 10 years in the adoption world before becoming a certified parenting coach. I'm a mom of 3 with over 26 years of parenting experience. I love supporting parents in connecting more deeply with their children. I love it when I'm able to help parents become calm and confident in their parenting.
What's 1 challenge you've faced and how has it effected your business? What did you do to overcome it?
Building my audience had been the most difficult aspect of growing my business. I'm overcoming it by hosting my Facebook Group and networking in the community.
What's 1 success you've had since you’ve created your business? How do you feel when you look back on it?
Building my Facebook group is a big win for me and for the moms in the group. It gives me more interaction with moms facing challenging behaviors and it feels good to offer a free service. Not everyone is able to invest in one on one coaching, yet parents still need support and education. It feels good to be able to offer support to everyone that comes my way in one form or another.
What's the best piece of advice you could give someone looking to start a business?
Get ready to be patient and to face your fears. It will be harder than you think, but it is worth pursuing your passion.
What's a pivot you've made in your business?
I started out being very general about the parent coaching services I was offering. I wanted to be very inclusive. Unfortunately, by trying to include everyone I was reaching virtually no one. Getting clear about who I can help the most was the best pivot I could have ever made.
When are you at your happiest?
Deeply connecting with another person personally or professionally is my happy place!
What do you tell yourself when things get difficult?
I tell myself to keep pressing on and remind myself that momentum takes time to build. It is tough work creating something from nothing, but worth it.
Whats 1 personal goal you've set for yourself this year?
I want to give myself the freedom of space and time to paint again.
What's 1 business goal you've set for yourself to accomplish this year?
I want to build a strong and proven business model for EverParent Coaching.
What's the first thing you do on a Monday morning and why?
I make my cappuccino, go outside, to pray and meditate using my Lectio 365 app.
Where can you be found + what will you typically be up to on a Friday night?
I will be out to dinner with my husband, family, or friends somewhere in downtown St. Pete.
