It's hard to believe that we're already coming to a close with 2022! It feels like only yesterday that we were ringing in the new year with all of our hopes and dreams for the future. As we approach the end of the year, it's a good time to reflect on the lessons we've learned so far.

Check out what 9 of our members had to say & share your own lesson from this year in the comments.

Cheers to growth and success in 2022 and beyond!

“The biggest lesson I've learned in 2022 is that it's okay to take a step back and let go of some control. Hiring my first full time employee has helped me create space for myself and be able to control my burnout. It has opened up new doors and I'm really starting to value having people on my team instead of trying to do it all myself.”

“The biggest lesson I learned in 2022 is that resting is key, but so is making sure you have a consistent marketing strategy in place. One that's working behind the scenes to attract new leads even when you're taking your well-deserved social media break or time off. This might be as simple as making sure you have some guest podcasts episodes tee'd up to release during your "break," pre-scheduling social content, or optimizing your website for SEO. It's so important to put this system in place in order to make sure you have consistent leads and revenue coming in the door, so you can actually enjoy your time off.”

“This isn’t a new lesson I’ve learned in 2022, but it’s definitely one that has been reinforced, which is to stay flexible and adaptable while also staying the course of your long-term mission. Working in finance, nothing is ever guaranteed, and I try to position our clients’ portfolios to withstand volatility. But during times of tumultuousness, the head and the heart often feel differently about the best course of action. Keeping in contact with clients about what changes to make (or not make) to keep them on track for long-term goals has been challenging this year, but has also emphasized why I am here and why I do what I do.”

This year, I realized that I was following where the money took me and not building the business that I wanted. I took time to refocus on what I wanted for my business and made a slight but significant change to my brand and packages.

Making this realization also allowed me to readjust my one-day list for my business. I realized that I was putting off projects that aligned with my company's true mission because my time was being spent on projects that were not the right fit but paying me in the moment. The change meant saying no to some clients, but I couldn't be happier.

“I feel like I have finally learned the biggest lesson of all to a successful business. Know who your ideal client/employee/vendor etc is and don’t stray. When you allow the wrong person into your business you end up spending more time trying to make something work that never will. Spending your energy in the wrong place and alienating the people that are working for your business. Stay firm on who you take on and be quick to realize when it isn’t working.”

2022 is the year I built a business and quit my 9-5. There has been a lot of learning along the way and it has been great. The biggest lesson was following your gut verse following all the advice that is out there. Not to say the advice isn't useful, but your gut knows best. For me, it was you have to "niche down", I did not. I was unsure of what type of clients I wanted to focus on, yet I knew I wanted to keep learning from amazing women business owners. And that I have! In the future, I will niche down, but I have grown on my journey there.

Life doesn’t come with a blueprint. No matter how much I TRY to follow a predetermined plan & map out my future, something will inevitably fall out of alignment and THAT’S OK! It’s when I learned to have the least control & to live in natural harmony with my surroundings that the best of life has flowed freely to me.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned this year is to step outside of my comfort zone, nothing significant ever happens in your comfort zone. When you start to show up for yourself in new ways, you prove to yourself that you are capable of achieving literally anything you set your mind to. Letting go of the expectations and control over the outcomes, and taking messy action has been a game-changing mindset shift for me this year. There is so much power in being anxious and overwhelmed about something and then doing it anyways.

The biggest lesson I've learned in 2022 has been to be myself, show up as my authentic self with flaws and all. To get out there and make connections with people. That Imposter Syndrome is part of the journey, but CONSISTENCY will overcome it all.
