Tell us about yourself and what you do!
I am a double certified nutritionist and I am the founder and head coach of my company Be Fit Systems. I coach about 200 women each month to weight loss victory with online coaching and weight loss meal plans.
How did your business begin?
I’ve been on a diet since the age of 9– nothing worked long term. At the age of 40, I was on married to my 2nd husband, who I call my forever husband, and raising 7 kids. My husband was deployed. And I was morbidly obese.
I was so sick of feeling sick and tired, so I took matters into my own hands and did all the research of what our bodies needed to fuel ourselves, but also how so lose weight and sustain it. I lost my first 50 pounds in 10 months and then went on to lose 105 pounds.
Realizing I had "the secret sauce," I decided to help others do the same.
What's 1 challenge you've faced and how has it effected your business? What did you do to overcome it?
This past year I was in limbo– deciding to either franchise my biz or scale it back. It was such a hard decision as I think many of us base our success on numbers and recognition. So I set forth to franchise. But every step I took, I didn't feel settled; I wasn't excited, I wasn't joyful.
So I had to really step back and assess WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME–and it was crystal clear that my husband and grown children are what's important. AND– spending more quality time with my clients, to assure they are successful, was more important–NOT the number of clients I had. So franchising wasn't what set well with me, authentically. Quality time with family and CLIENTS IS. So it was humbling for me to realize it wasn't about quantity of people, but rather QUALITY.
What's 1 success you've had since you’ve created your business? How do you feel when you look back on it?
Any time I have helped a client lose 100 + pounds is pretty damn awesome and honestly we've had over a dozen clients achieve this.
PLUS– finally being able to write my book, Be You Tiful and watching it hit #1 New Release on Amazon.
What's the best piece of advice you could give someone looking to start a business?
Decide quickly how you are going to scale the business. It's not worth your own emotional and physical burn out. AND– have an advisor or outside team guiding you.
What's a pivot you've made in your business?
We haven't had to do this much because we were always an online business, but one big pivot I did was to step back from the day to day and allow my assistants and assistant coaches lead to MORE.
When are you at your happiest?
Ahhh, this is easy! When I don't have to post on social media or be on my laptop and I'm with my husband and adult kids, when they are home and we are out on our boat. Immediately, after we launch the boat, I feel at peace, calm and happy.
What do you tell yourself when things get difficult?
Breathe. Just breathe. It will all work itself out. And my favorite verse is: Be Still and Know that I am God.
Whats 1 personal goal you've set for yourself this year?
Honestly, each year, my goal is to maintain the weight loss (because maintaining is so much harder than losing).
What's 1 business goal you've set for yourself to accomplish this year?
To only work 6 hours a day. It's 6 intense hours, but ONLY 6.
What's the first thing you do on a Monday morning and why?
This is not the norm, but because I'm a very TYPE A person, I slow roll Mondays. Otherwise I would get all anxious and spin.
Where can you be found + what will you typically be up to on a Friday night?
Comfy in bed, with my husband, binge watching some show.
Finish these sentences:
My go to karaoke song is… “Over the Rainbow” by Katherine McPhee.
My signature drink is... anything with alcohol… ok, a Margarita!
My favorite quote is… Honestly, its the Bible Verse: Be still and know that I am God.
