Make Spicy Grapefruit Margaritas!
Hola, Babes! We wanted to get the party started early with this Spicy Grapefruit Margarita recipe! We recommend using a silver tequila and that you wash your hands after handling the jalapeños. You’re not gonna be too happy when you go to scratch your eye later and pain immediately ensues. Also! Refrigerate your grapefruits before you use them so they’re already chilled. Try to be cool if grapefruit juice gets everywhere (‘cuz it will!). A little mess never hurt anyone. ;) Cheers!
Ingredients:
14 Ruby Red Grapefruits
6 oz Camerena Tequila
6 oz simple syrup
2 jalapeños
sea salt
Preparation:
Step 1. Slice 12 of your grapefruits into quarters (or halves; your choice) and squeeze all the juice you can from them into a glass bowl. Strain out all the pulp and seeds. Then pour your juice into a pitcher to store in the fridge until you're ready to use.
Step 2. Slice your 13th grapefruit into fours. Slice down the center of 1 of the halves. Use that quarter piece to add grapefruit juice to your glassware’s rims by running it along the edge of each glass. Pour sea salt into a small, shallow plate. Next, turn each glass upside down and lightly coat the glass’ edges in the salt.
Step 3. Take 2 quarter pieces of grapefruit pieces used to rim your glasses and prepare them for the muddling process by cutting the fruit off the rind and placing a chunk at the bottom of each glass. Slice your jalapeños and add 2 slices to each glass. Add 1.5 oz of simple syrup to each glass, then muddle all contents together.
Step 4. Add ice and 1.5 oz of tequila to each glass. Pour fresh grapefruit juice over your ice and other ingredients until you reach your salt rim. Garnish with a grapefruit slice cut from your last whole grapefruit on the rim of each glass. Drop a slice of jalapeño in the top of each cocktail and enjoy!
