Jade is a coffee-sipping, clean design-loving, person with a sense of calm that follows her wherever she goes. She launched Jade Timmerman Interiors four years ago and became a Babe Crafted member in mid-2018. The timing we chose to shoot her Feature ended up being perfect because she recently moved to a new South Tampa office with lots of natural light. I know you’ll love getting to know Jade as well as hear her out on topics like how she got started, what it’s like being a mom of three & a business owner, and how she developed a niche for herself in the design world. Enjoy her words & stay boss. xx -G

Take a peek into Jade’s daily life!

Tell us about yourself and what you do!

My name is Jade Timmerman and I own an interior design firm in Tampa. I approach my business with more of a boutique style, allowing my clients to have spaces that are perfectly curated and infused with their personality and catered to fit their lifestyle. When I am not working, I stay very busy with my 3 kids between school and sports. There’s never a dull moment in the Timmerman house!

How did your business begin?

When my twins were 2 years old, I thought I may want to start working again. After dipping my toe back into the work force, I quickly realized that as a mom of 3 that I needed a more flexible schedule and the only way I would be able to have a career on my own terms would be to start my own design firm.

Whats 1 challenge you've faced and 1 success you've had since you’ve created your business?

My biggest challenge is balance. Isn’t this every working mamas biggest challenge? I struggle with turning off work once I pick my kids up from school and they are only little once and I need to focus on them and save the work for later in the night or move my to do list to the next day.

One success I have is continued growth through every year of my business. I feel like I have gradually worked towards the projects and clients I had dreamed of and I haven’t had a stagnant year in business yet. It’s gratifying knowing that every year I keep doing a little better than the last.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received and has it come in handy for you?

“If it won’t matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes worrying about it”. I am so bad at fixating on a moment that I felt I could have done better and stewing in it for hours (ok days) at a time and at the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter. Things happen, mistakes happen and every one moves on.

When are you at your happiest?

I am at my happiest when my family and I take our annual beach vacation. It’s the one week a year when I am completely unplugged and I can completely relax and enjoy precious time with my family.

What do you tell yourself when things get difficult?

Just keep swimming. Dory was one smart fish! Bad times pass and I always work through them so just keep doing what I am doing and it will all be alright.

Whats 1 personal goal and 1 business goal you plan to accomplish this year?

One personal goal would be to make time for health and fitness. I have really let that part go as I have gotten busier and I don’t want to keep putting it on the back burner. My business goal this year is to implement a solid marketing plan so I can continue to grow my business.

Where can you be found & what will you typically be up to on a Tuesday afternoon?

Ahhh...the infamous school carline waiting to pick up my kiddos from school. Upside to waiting almost an hour to pick them up means I have a little time to finish up emails or do some sourcing for work.

How about on a Friday evening?

On my sofa, in my pajamas, with a glass of red wine, watching absolutely nothing educational on tv.

On a Sunday morning?

Making breakfast for my family and getting ready for the week ahead.

Finish these sentences:

I love: my people. I am so lucky to have an amazing support system in my family and friends.

I'm always looking for: more time!

My inspiration is: fellow boss babes. I am always listening to podcasts, reading books, and talking shop with fellow female entrepreneurs so I can constantly evolve and level up in my business.

I'll never: stop being amazed at all that is good in this world. The news tends to lean towards the negative but this world is full of beautiful, kind people and amazing places.
