Volunteer Day with Girls On The Run
Hey everyone & Happy Friday!
It’s Sarah here coming to you today with the run down on our amazing day last Saturday volunteering at the Girls On The Run 5k event in St. Pete. This was our final Volunteer Day of 2018 (we host quarterly volunteer opportunities!) and were pumped to be there to spread some kindness & gratitude.
For those who don’t know, Girls On The Run is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams-- right up Babe Crafted’s alley! We hosted an activity station in “Race Village” where girls could write a thank you note to someone who had inspired them during their journey training for race day. It could be their coach, a team mate, or even a parent.
We were stocked up on craft thank you cards, gel pens (so many colors!), and of course good vibes. ;) We were ready to help facilitate as girls wrote out thank you notes to someone who has helped and inspired them as they prepared for a challenging but super fun race day.
We arrived at 6:30 a.m. for set up and the race day began at 8 a.m. It was an early but rewarding day.
Myself, along with Heather Saunders of Ameriprise Financial, Salma Benkabbou of The Benkabbou Law Firm, Angela Koepplinger of Patina + Palm, Liv Gaggi of Liv Gaggi, and Maggie Shaffer of Sagebrushed were representing the Babe Crafted crew (squad goals, for sure!) & we had a blast doing so! Heather has been a volunteer with GOTR for a couple years & when she brought the idea to us we knew we had to do it. Thank you for your involvement and help Heather!
Interacting with the girls & seeing their appreciation & helping them write their gratitude cards was so special.
We enjoyed watching the beginning of the 5k & seeing all the girls cross the finish line. It was a great morning spending time with amazing Babe Crafted members & all the amazing volunteers, coaches & most importantly, the girls! For more info on Girls On The Run, click here.
If you’re looking to connect with likeminded women in Tampa Bay & you’re a business owner, check out our membership! We are lucky to have the support & resources to lift one another up, but not every woman is so lucky. We try to bridge this gap in every way we can. One of our core values is to give back whenever we can to local non-profits whose whose mission is to empower women & girls. Philanthropy is very important to us & is reflected in the programming we offer to our community as well all our annual members. We host Volunteer Days, donation drives, raffles, & more.
