Meet Annie Cox of Ann Cox Design!

Good morning, Boss Babes! Happy Hump Day & Boss Babe Wednesday. We have an awesome Boss Babe Feature with Interior Designer, Ann “Annie” Cox of Tampa-based design firm, Ann Cox Design. She listens to Nina Simone every morning and loves the mix tapes her brother, Carson Cox of the band Merchandise, sends her. She has four tiny dogs: three Daschunds and one Daschund mix. Her home in Seminole Heights is like something out of a magazine— which shouldn’t surprise you because she’s a creative designer and is committed to beautiful spaces when she’s on & off the clock. I met Annie through Wedding Photographer, Ashlee Hamon in late 2017 & am so glad I did. Annie is always laughing & she’s not afraid to completely be herself. I could definitely stand to take a page or two out of Annie’s book of life. I really enjoyed editing her Feature video— she has a lot of honesty to share about what it's truly like running your own business and you can really see how her past & present have come full circle. Enjoy her words & stay boss. xx

Take a peek into Annie’s daily life!

Tell us about yourself and what you do!

I am an interior designer that specializes in new builds, renovations, furniture design and layout.

How did your business begin?

After discovering my passion for all things interior design, I worked for West Elm as their lead “In Home Stylist” for 3 years. I repeatedly reached my sales goals in our local store as well as some regional goals. I’ve always wanted to run my own business and I felt like that was the push I needed to try it on my own.

What’s 1 challenge you’ve faced and 1 success you’ve had since you’ve created your business?

The biggest challenge is explaining what I actually do to people and potential clients in an easy to understand way. The biggest success is that I made it over the 1 year mark in running Ann Cox Design!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received and has it come in handy for you?

The best advice I've gotten is “don’t take it too personally.” It comes in handy every day.

When are you at your happiest?

I’m at my happiest when I know my clients get the best customer experience.

What are you grateful for?

I’m grateful that my mother and boyfriend want to work with me everyday. I’m a very demanding boss. Haha.

What’s 1 personal goal and 1 business goal you plan to accomplish this year?

My personal and business goals are the same! Keep each balanced with the other. Being mindful is the only thing that keeps me sane. It is important for me to know that I’m not overdoing one area, because then they all tend to suffer.

Where can you be found on a Tuesday afternoon?

Running from job site to job site.

Where can we find you on a Friday evening?

Enjoying a glass of wine on my back porch with my four pups!

Where can you be found on a Sunday morning?

Out and about! Even if there is nothing going on in Tampa I love driving around and looking for yard sales.
